Anniversary Tour 2006

Carol and I had our annual Anniversary Tour. Our 18 Wedding Anniversary BTW. We had a great time. Our first stop after paying the price gouged parking prices of $15.00. We hit beale St. and caught up with The Skydogs at the Kings Palace Patio. Rick, Leo and Dennis were tearing it up.

Then we wandered over to Blues Hall to catch Delta Highway spreading the blues hot and heavy.

Seeing the crowds getting heaver we decided to go to one of our favorite bars " Kudzus". After talking with our Favorite Bartender Martin for a while, a three piece acoustic band came in and started to play. Hitchhikers Union is their name and they have a great sound. Stay tuned for more on this band.

Ms. Toni Green in the Juke N' Jamm Studio

Joining Juke N' Jamm in the studio today was veteran performer Toni Green who's been recording since the 70's and has released four albums throughout her career. She started as a teenager working with producer Willie Mitchell of Hi Records and, over the years, has performed with greats like Marvell Thomas, Teenie Hodges, Isaac Hayes, Luther Ingram, The Memphis Horns, and The Doobie Brothers just to name a few. Toni has received many prestigious awards in recognition of her talent. While living in Louisville, Kentucky, she was honored with the Best Female Vocalist of the Year for 3 years in a row

, numerous awards from the Mayor & Governor, and she also wrote a jingle for the city of Louisville. This year, she received the Southern Soul & Blues Artist award from Funky Larry Jones' "The South And Blues Report" publication. She has toured extensively across the US and in Europe and will be making a live concert appearance at Stax Museum's "Last Mondays in Studio A" on Memorial Day, May 29th. Toni is currently working on a new studio project which will combine Memphis funk, Southern Soul, Blues, and Jazz. Juke N' Jamm is looking forward to completion of her new CD and will let you know of its release. It was a pleasure having Toni visit with us on the show today and we appreciate her taking time out of her busy schedule to stop by. If you would like to contact Toni regarding information, inquiries about her music, booking information, or future show dates, email her at T9351@netzero.com or charcole@bellsouth.net.

SOUTHERN CULTURE ON THE SKIDS

SOUTHERN CULTURE ON THE SKIDS is making a return visit to Memphis this Friday, May 5th to perform at Young Ave Deli (2119 Young Ave) for one show only. Show starts at 9:00pm with Jeffrey Evans opening. Affectionally bringing the southern trailer park culture with them, SCOTS can only be described as having a B-52's look down to the vintage clothing and big hair. Their style of music is an unique combination of rockabilly, boogie, country, blues, surf, and swamp pop with a distinctive SCOTS-own "chicken-scratchin'" sound whose fun-loving lyrics are mostly dedicated to food. "Banana Puddin'" and "Eight Piece Box" are favorites Juke N' Jamm plays during its rotation on Saturday afternoon. Last year's visit to Memphis resulted in Southern Culture On The Skids playing to a sell-out, standing-room only audience. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door and tickets will go fast for this exciting show. For information on ticket sales, go to www.youngavenuedeli.com.
